Crafting is a great way to getting nice items and equipment when you’re just starting out in the game or you can acquire these equipment when you buy STO credits. The crafting system is available to players who have reached level 15. In order to craft items, however, you’ll need basic materials which may be acquired by scanning anomalies in missions, completing team missions in the PvE queue or by completing Duty Officer Assignments. Read on below for more information.
Crafting Window for STO Credits Buyers
The Crafting Window is where the magic happens. Here you will see everything you need to be able to start crafting. Under the crafting slots you will see the crafting schools you may learn and level in order to craft better items. These slots are:
- Projectiles
- Ground Weapons
- Shields
- Engineering
- Cannons
- Beams
- Science
Each school will give you a list of projects in order to start crafting. There are four types of projects that each school may give you. These are:
- Item Projects – create items for the use of your character, ship, officers, etc.
- Component Projects – create the gears required in order to assemble the equipment.
- Upgrade Projects – upgrades equipment
- The Research Project – gain experience for that particular school
How to Unlock R&D Slots for STO Credits Buyers
There is a maximum of 5 slots that a player may queue a crafting project into. To start players off, the first one is automatically unlocked. The other four may be unlocked by completing certain tasks or requirements.
It is recommended that you select one school to focus on. The Research Project rewards 6000 XP and is the fastest way to level up schools. Repeat the Research Project until you have reached level 2 to be able to unlock the second slot. Repeat doing the Research Project on both slots. Once the first school has reached level 4, the third slot will be unlocked.
Again, repeat the Research Project until all three of these schools have reached level 5 and you will be able to unlock the fourth slot.
For the last slot you may either continue to do Research Projects on all of your schools or just with your first as you may start crafting items in the other slots. The main goal is to get one school to level 15 in order to unlock the 5th slot.
