Even with the advent of Deadman mode, Darkscape accounts are still being made left and right. I tend to think that this is due to Darkscape being the “middle” ground of the three prominent Runescape types. Darkscape calls for those looking for something a bit more hardcore than vanilla Runescape yet, at the same time, isn’t so harsh as to become unplayable for most reasonable players.
Even with botting prevalent in multiple Darkscape accounts, Jagex still finds the necessary time to root out dummy accounts that are made only to make someone’s main Darkscape account richer through some iffy and shady means. There is great care for this middle ground and wasn’t made only for the purpose of momentarily sating a specific demographic.
If anything, I find this version of Runescape to be the better one compared to the other two mainstream versions for the reason that it’s got just the right amount of gruff I tend to look for in PvP-centric activities. Of course, it can get pretty annoying with the tight restrictions on PvP combat in specific zones and other regulations that ensures the enjoyment of everybody playing, but I find these things to be a necessity in keeping the game fair and balanced.
Nobody really likes to get ganked all at once when they first log into the game. If you’re looking for action like that, better head on over to Deadman Mode where everything is pretty much Dark Souls in HTML5.
But things could be better in Darkscape. One big issue most folks have with Darkscape is that multi-combat PvP is very hard to engage in, making clan wars, a beloved feature in older Runescape, almost impossible to do. Why, you ask? Well it’s because of those restrictions I’ve stated earlier. Zones vary in threat level and guard duty that avid PvPers really have to be careful on who, what, and when to hit something with their shiny 2h Addy. The wilds become a useless zone due to these restrictions still in place, making for some very disappointing gaming.
However, it’s still early in the life of Darkscape and it has a lot more years to come for it. In time, we will only find it to improve and progress at such a level that loyal fans of the franchise will never be able to leave the “just right” flavoring of Darkscape. Prepare for a lot more Darkscape accounts to be made.
