Having been weaned on PvP since I first started playing MMOs, I don’t have any issues with getting ganked while leveling so long as I get ganked by someone near my level range. If it’s a higher leveled fool, I log in my main and go kick his ass with unhinged retribution. But if it’s a multi-boxer with an army of healers, well, I just cave in. Darkscape isn’t exactly safe from this form of stupidity because there’s still the possibility of encountering a multi-boxing, multiple Darkscape account holding douche that thinks it’s skill that totally got him kills.
It’s a danger in every game, of course, but it becomes more pronounced in Java-based or HTML5-based games like Darkscape. It’s easier to hide the botting with this type of game engine and isn’t at all a problem for multiple Darkscape Account users with relatively strong PCs to do so. But of course, the devs are always on the lookout for these nasties so it hasn’t been a prevalent issue.
But you can easily tell when a multi-boxer rolls on by; the lag and FPS drops become so real that you think it’s really your brain on the fritz. It’s one thing to have the server lag almost all the time due to the sheer number of people into the game, it’s another to get a blatant abuser of multiple Darkscape Accounts pass on by and ruining your fun by either accidentally skulling you so that guards decide to kill you or they do the job themselves. Really nothing I can do about that.
But on the bright side, you know that the game is alive and well if you see more than one unique Darkscape Account gracing your screen every few minutes. The PvP is pretty amazing and controlled to a degree that you can’t easily be abused by players of way higher levels or be decimated by a gigantic clan just looking for some fun due to level restrictions, risk area types, and whole bunch of other rules that folks have to follow. This, of course, doesn’t apply to high-threat zones where it’s pretty much anything goes. But one can see how well-crafted and meticulously constructed Darkscape is in order to provide a balanced and PvP-oriented environment.
Aside from the obvious problems from multiple Darkscape Account users, the game is relatively a step up from Runescape if PvP’s just your thing. It isn’t too harsh and it isn’t too easy; just the right amount of awesome. If you haven’t tried it yet and are a fan of Runescape, I suggest you get on it as it’ll be a completely different experience.
